What A Day!
I just got home. I see you're not. Another long day, huh?

I'll fill you in on my day. I set off around noon and headed over to Butler. Wanted to get a bite at this amazingly caloric patisserie type place that recently opened and you wouldn't step foot in. While circling for a parking space, I saw this guy who looked so familiar. But I couldn't place him. An old guy, Brian. I probably didn't know him, but he reminded me of somebody.

Tattoo questions
So, I've got this fic I've been working on and I've come up against some questions I need answered about tattoos. Anyone who has experience with that, I'd appreciate the help since I myself don't have any and neither does my husband. Anyone else in my RL I could ask would want to know why, and uh, yeah. Not going there, lol. Anyway, I looked up information about them online and found most of what I need, but just wanted to make sure on a couple of things I didn't find specific answers to.

1) Mostly I'm skipping the process. The person shows up, there's a short conversation, then it cuts to after. But, I can't seem to find anything definitively online about whether to call it a parlor/shop/studio (in the 'States, if that matters).

2) From what I read about the aftercare, it's best to wear a bandage for at least a couple of hours after, then remove it and wash the area with mild soap using your hand, not a cloth, then pat (not rub) it dry, right? So...do you put a fresh bandage on once the area's dry? Or is that it for the bandage, and you just leave the tattoo uncovered after that?

3) Also, does it depend on where the tattoo is whether you re-bandage? Like, I can see leaving a bandage off on say...an arm tattoo, but what about one on a butt or the pelvic area or upper thigh...somewhere that would normally be under clothing and having that clothing rubbing against it pretty much every time you move?

4) Is the tattooed area sore for a period of time afterward? And if so, how many days usually? (If it matters, I'm estimating that this tattoo is about 3 or 4 inches across and probably 5 or 6 inches long.)

5) Finally, when does the itching start and how long does it typically last? All I could find was that it usually itches (I realize probably not everyone goes through an itching phase, but for this fic, the person will) as it heals, and it takes about 2 weeks to heal, but nothing I read gives a time frame for when the itching usually starts or how long it lasts. I'm just looking for something general, like a few days in, or a week in, or whatnot.

Got my answers. Thank you [info]purpledodah, [info]snowpuppies, [info]denied_heaven, [info]angelsrebellion, [info]tabaqui, [info]dragonydreams, and [info]spangel_kat!

Any little other incidentals about the aftercare/healing process that you experienced that someone who hasn't got a tattoo before (namely me) wouldn't know about/think of, feel free to mention. I like my details, lol. And thanks in advance. :)

Just so you know I'm not ignoring you
I am not getting all my comments forwarded to me. The LJ glitch has hit but not consistent....I plan to reply as I find them but the old reliable e-mail notification isn't doing its job at the moment. Still having the phone line upgrade hassles too (I can't even get them to give us a timeframe for this to be completed and we still have some wires dangling in our back yard from the "ongoing" project! They keep telling us how wonderful it will be for the whole neighborhood once the new fiber optics are in place but in the meantime it is frustrating.

*hugs to all*

US confession: Weapons were not made in Iran after all
Source: CASMII

US confession: Weapons were not made in Iran after all

In a sharp reversal of its longstanding accusations against Iran arming militants in Iraq , the US military has made an unprecedented albeit quiet confession: the weapons they had recently found in Iraq were not made in Iran at all.

According to a report by the LA Times correspondent Tina Susman in Baghdad: “A plan to show some alleged Iranian-supplied explosives to journalists last week in Karbala and then destroy them was canceled after the United States realized none of them was from Iran. A U.S. military spokesman attributed the confusion to a misunderstanding that emerged after an Iraqi Army general in Karbala erroneously reported the items were of Iranian origin. When U.S. explosives experts went to investigate, they discovered they were not Iranian after all.”

The US , which until two weeks ago had never provided any proof for its allegations, finally handed over its “evidence” of the Iranian origin of these weapons to the Iraqi government. Last week, an Iraqi delegation to Iran presented the US “evidence” to Iranian officials. According to Al-Abadi, a parliament member from the ruling United Iraqi Alliance who was on the delegation, the Iranian officials totally refuted “training, financing and arming” militant groups in Iraq . Consequently the Iraqi government announced that there is no hard evidence against Iran.

In another extraordinary event this week, the US spokesman in Iraq, Maj. Gen. Kevin Bergner, for the first time did not blame Iran for the violence in Iraq and in fact did not make any reference to Iran at all in his introductory remarks to the world media on Wednesday when he described the large arsenal of weapons found by Iraqi forces in Karbala.

blargh
FUCK.

I was going to do a huge write-up about the MCR and HCTour concerts, and all the fun times I had this weekend, and be all fannish and giddy. BUT NOW I HAVE THE DEATH FLU. Or something. I probably caught cold from running around Sunday without a jacket, d'oh.

But yeah, I have no voice and I'm all crusty and I'm cranky and I haven't felt this awfully in a long time, which sucks ass because I have SO MUCH SHIT due tomorrow, and then two finals after that.

I'd flail, but I might fall over.

Released by [info]allie_quixotic [recced by Ayesakara]
Today's rec:

Title: Released
Written by: [info]allie_quixotic
Timeframe: Season Four, Ep 405 gapfiller
Word Count: 1435
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Nothing
Why I Recommend This Fic:
Because this captures the moments right after the incident with Chris Hobbs and the gun in episode 405 absolutely perfectly. I don't think I've ever read a gapfiller for this episode that felt this real to me before. Justin's thoughts and actions are spot on, his POV absolutely in-character. And I love that his thoughts are not in isolation. I love that we get to see how Brian would react as well. Gorgeous stuff.

My co-mod and dearest friend [info]severina2001 recently lost her mom. I'll be doing the recs here until she's ready to come back. At times like these, I find myself terribly inadequate at words. But, then at a time like this, there *are* no words that could ever be enough. All I can say is... take care of yourself, hon, we love you and are thinking of you and your amazing mom. *hugs*

Seeking Help for Countess Mary

The Law in Fandom

(If you could mention this on your journals I would love you forever because I'm going to need some serious help here.)

I'm planning a panel at Dragon*Con this year that's about what is or isn't illegal in fandom. I was wondering several things.

If there are any lawyers out there who have experience defending people who have been sued for fandom related acts or any understanding of interpreting the law for this purpose I would love it if you could contact me.

Obviously, I'm going to have to do a fair amount of reading and researching for this one any links you might have about this subject would be immensely helpful.

If you have seen the original creators commenting on the use of their source, it would be nice to compare and contrast them.

We're talking about fan art, fanfic, and fanvids and I'd like to speak to people who have actually gotten the Cease & Desist letters.

If you're coming to con, and would be interested in speaking on the panel, please also contact me, either by commenting here, or by emailing me at countessmary at gmail.
